HEAD OF SCHOOL
The Southeast Neighborhood School of Excellence (SENSE), an urban community-based elementary charter school in Indianapolis, is searching for an energetic, enthusiastic, and innovative candidate to serve as our next head of school. We are in our sixth year of operation, with 27 teachers and 7 administrative staff serving 290 students. Our mission is to provide our students with a strong foundation by nurturing academic excellence, social development, and civic responsibility. Our curriculum focuses on a "back-to-basics" approach, with emphasis on reading, writing, math, and science skills. We supplement core courses with innovative instructional strategies that allow our teachers to address the specific interests, abilities, and learning characteristics of each student.

Our next head of school has a tremendous opportunity to impact many lives-including students and their families, teachers, neighbors, and more. The head of school will play a vital role in shaping our future. Among other things, he or she will help us refine our curriculum, implement the next phase of our strategic plan, cultivate professional growth among our outstanding faculty, and establish strong connections to the people of our community.

We expect the head of school to build upon our many successes and transform SENSE into a community treasure, one that offers top-notch education on many different levels. The head of school should introduce new ideas and ways of working in order to grow programming, increase outreach, build relationships, and help children and their families imagine new possibilities.
